ABOUT THIS GUIDE

The link below provides access to a field trip guide for the EEPS Field Methods Course (ESCI 505). The course also introduces students to the regional geology of New Mexico. This body of work, put together by EEPS emeritus professor John Anderson and adjunct professor and former Exxon/Mobil geologist Fred Weaver, is intended to find broad utility and use by universities beyond Rice.  It is our hope that all who download this resource will discover what a wonderful area this is for introducing future generations of students to tectonic and stratigraphic concepts.


This resource can be utilized as both a field excursion and a virtual field trip, hence there are lots of photos (similar to those in the banner above).  The photos are also to help trip participants identify specific outcrops and features at each stop.
