A Panchromatic Cathodoluminescence Detector was added to our EPMA instrument in September 2020

Our EPMA lab purchased cathodoluminescence (CL) detector which was installed in September-October 2020. The CL detector is an XM-26740PCLI: PANCHROMATIC CATHODOLUMINESCENCE IMAGE SYSTEM provided by JEOL.  The CL detector is integrated within the EPMA software and will be able to acquire individual, high-resolution CL images, or can be used synchronously with WDS mapping.

If you need to fast distinguish zircon, monazite, apatite, feldspars, calcite, or/and identify generations of mafic silicates or other phases (minerals or glass) based on their trace element composition, or if you want to check the compositional zoning of these phases in matters of seconds, then take advantage of our new analytical technique which works in conjunction with the EDS and WDS techniques.

Update of the EPMA software for Windows 10

The EPMA software for Windows 10 was updated in September 2020. It comes with a new EPMA computer containing electronic boards designed to control the “Smart” unit of the microprobe and contains software updates. The EPMA operation using Windows 10 platform also ensures higher internet security, necessary for the remote operation of our microprobe.
