Biographical Info

I am currently a second year Earth Science doctoral student working under the advisorship of Dr. Julia Morgan. Prior to coming to Rice I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Miami with majors in Geology and Environmental Science and minors in Mathematics and Economics. While there I worked on research projects with both Geology and Environmental Science graduate students. I spent the summer after my junior year working in the Short Term Exploration department of Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold and the summer after my senior year I was chosen by the Miami Geology faculty to be the graduate teaching assistant on the undergraduate summer field course. In my free time I play on the Rice Men's Club Volleyball Team where I am the starting middle hitter. I also volunteer in the greater Houston area, working as a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters Houston to mentor an at-risk 10 year old in our community. Finally, I am involved in a Rice University summer outreach initiative where a high performing underprivileged high school students shadows me for 10 days, perform a research project under my mentorship, and presents a scientific poster in front of his or her classmates and teachers at the conclusion of the program.

Research

I am broadly interested in the intersection between structural geology and surface processes. I seek to explore the feedbacks between plate boundary interactions and their related surface erosion responses to get a more complete idea of the landscape evolution forces at play in a given tectonically active region. Understanding these sorts of processes has major implications to defining the extent of a given region's geohazards, economic resources, and land use opportunities.
